The celebrations of the Shazia and Saajin wedding in Dubai, started with a haldi and mehendi at their respective homes, and concluded with a brunch at W Hotel on Jumeirah Palm. Haldi and Mehendi
The celebration began with intimate pre-wedding functions that were hosted at the bride’s and groom’s respective homes. Shazia’s haldi and mehendi took place in the cozy and vibrant setting of her community garden. The décor featured a color palette of yellow and pinks, with cascading marigold tassels, floral installations, and minimalistic seating. Shazia made a joyful entrance under a dupatta, flanked by her cousins dancing and showering petals, with dholwalas leading the procession. Family dance performances added energy to the event, followed by a flower shower ceremony for that perfect candid moment.
Later, the women from the groom’s side also joined the celebration with music, dhol, and traditional gifts for the bride. At Saajin’s place, the décor mirrored a traditional haldi vibe—bursting with marigolds, colorful tassels, and vibrant seating. Henna artistes pampered close family, while live singer Jairaj amped up the energy, ensuring everyone was grooving.
The Mehfil Night
The second evening was all about glamour, performances, and heartfelt celebrations. It was hosted at the stunning outdoor venue, Address Montgomerie in Emirates Hills with a décor that was both whimsical and opulent. A central fountain overflowed with florals and mirrored disco balls, striking a balance between vintage charm and modern glitz. Natural olive trees, soft-toned blooms, and flickering candles added intimacy inside, while the glowing wooden bar beneath lantern-lit trees outside offered a cozy escape.
A caricature artist and henna stations kept the guests engaged. Shazia’s and Saajin’s siblings were the emcees for the night, and beautifully narrated their love story from childhood to present, through family performances. As the performances wrapped, DJ Manoj took over, turning the Mehfil into an all-out party, complete with an after-party for the youngsters.
Nikaah and Reception
The Nikaah, held at the Dubai Festival Arena, welcomed over 3,000 guests to a breathtaking celebration. Built entirely from scratch in just two days, the décor beautifully blended tradition with modern elegance. Guests entered through a dreamy walkway adorned with rust tones, golden accents, floral arches, and candle-lit pathways, leading into a tunnel of cascading pink and mauve blooms.
A custom ceiling installation with circular chandeliers wrapped in fabric and florals cast a golden glow over the venue, draped in rich rust curtains. The aisle, lined with delicate blooms, led to a stunning stage framed by a white circular floral arch against a peach backdrop with intricate botanical motifs—an exquisite setting for the ceremony.
Saajin made a grand entrance flanked by 12 traditional drummers performing the Chenda Mela—a dynamic percussion ensemble from Kerala, India, known for its rhythmic energy and festive grandeur. As guests cheered and music filled the air, the atmosphere came alive with cultural vibrance. For the bridal entry, friends and family lined a candle-lit pathway strewn with flower petals, as jasmine-adorned umbrellas led Shazia under a phoolon ki chaadar, bouquet in hand, escorted by her parents.
The Nikaah began with heartfelt speeches and blessings. After both said “Qubool Hai,” a floral curtain was lifted, and Saajin took Shazia’s hand—symbolizing their union. The couple exchanged garlands and performed traditional rituals before cutting the cake amid cheers. A live Sufi band filled the evening later with soulful melodies.
